Please Welcome Ben Weilerstein

June 17, 2019

MassCOSH is happy to announce the recent hiring of Ben Weilerstein, who will serve as MassCOSH’s Labor-Community Training Coordinator and Organizer. Weilerstein brings a wealth of experience and great passion to MassCOSH and will help expand the over three decades of work and progress created by former MassCOSH employee Tolle Graham.

A Tufts University graduate and proficient Spanish speaker, Weilerstein began his career at Boston’s Toxics Action Center (TAC) where he played a key role supporting community groups campaigning for healthy environments. It was with TAC that he became aware of MassCOSH, as the two organizations play major roles in organizing Zero Waste Boston, advocating for decreased landfill use and fighting for better conditions and pay for waste workers.

Weilerstein gained additional experience working with the Massachusetts Nurses Association, developing worker leadership skills and building the organizing capacity of nursing units as part of the union’s massive Yes on 1 campaign. There, he learned just how critical unions are to achieving workers’ demands for reasonable working conditions and developed valuable organizing skills.
