New England Town Hall and Listening Session with OSHA on April 20th

*Zoom registration information below*

Under the Trump Administration, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) did little to protect workers from the coronavirus. On his second day in office, President Biden issued an Executive Order on Protecting Worker Health and Safety. It asks OSHA to step up and use its authority to protect workers and requires that the Secretaries of Agriculture, Labor, Health and Human Services, Transportation and Energy look into ways to protect workers from COVID-19 even if they are not covered by the OSH Act.

While we are still waiting for the Emergency Temporary Standard that was set to be released on March 15 (see action alert below), OSHA has already rolled out several new enforcement strategies and tools. On April 20, MassCOSH has joined with its COSH partners in New England to host a Town Hall and Listening Session. Hear directly from, Joseph T. “Chip” Hughes Jr., the new OSHA Deputy Assistant Secretary for Pandemic and Emergency Response to learn more about OSHA’s new efforts to ensure workers are protected from exposure to COVID-19 on the job.  Meet your OSHA Area Office staff in break-out groups and share your most urgent health and safety concerns.

Tuesday, April 20, 5:30 – 7:00 pm (via Zoom)

ACTION ALERT!

The Biden administration is both getting push-back from industry and feeling the need to respond to the myth that the vaccine will take care of everything.  We know that workers continue to get sick and die, they're the last to be vaccinated and they will continue to need safety measures for a long time to come.  Send a message to the White House through their comment line – tell President Biden that vaccines aren’t enough, keep your promise: workers need and deserve a COVID-19 Emergency Safety Standard! Contact Senator Warren and urge her to contact the White House with the same message!
