Immigrant Worker Center Provides Cash Assistance Thanks to the Generosity of our Partners

May 21, 2020

MassCOSH would like to thank the Fish Family Foundation, Shapiro Foundation, and Fireman Charitable Foundation for their commitment to helping the most vulnerable workers in our communities. Thanks to their generous support, MassCOSH is able to provide $30,000 in direct financial support to immigrant workers who do not qualify for federal and state assistance programs. A portion of these funds were distributed by the Massachusetts Undocufund. The remainder will be distributed by MassCOSH’s Immigrant Worker Center directly through pre-paid debit cards.

We are currently assisting MassCOSH Worker Center members who are out of work and individuals that Neighbors United for a Better East Boston helped identify who reside in coronavirus-impacted East Boston. The amount given to each family corresponds with family size and need. In addition to the prepaid debit cards, those receiving funds are provided information about MassCOSH services, membership, and locations of local food pantries and meal sites in their neighborhoods. On May 9, MassCOSH distributed the first wave of direct assistance to 30 members.
