New report on workplace fatalities in Massachusetts show increase in deaths as economic recovery continues

MassCOSH and the Massachusetts AFL-CIO collaborated to produce the 2022 Dying for Work: Loss of Life and Limb in Massachusetts Workplaces report (Click here to download from MediaFire https://www.mediafire.com/file/iobcafmq1efnhth/DFW_Apr22.pdf/file).

The Massachusetts AFL-CIO is the umbrella organization for more than 750 local unions, joint boards and district councils in the state, representing working women and men across the Commonwealth. MassCOSH is a non-profit organization whose members include workers, unions and health and legal professionals. Their mission is to ensure that all workers earn a fair wage, are treated with respect and dignity and return home to their families alive and well.

Work continues to kill and maim workers in alarming numbers and the COVID-19 pandemic continued to impact workers with devastating results in 2021. This report has been compiled to recognize the workers and their families and to highlight these tolls. The saddest aspect of the loss of lives and limbs is that work-related injuries and illnesses are preventable.
